Rumie is an award-winning Toronto-based startup that is revolutionizing global education by using low-cost, innovative technology to bring free digital education to some of the lowest resourced parts of the world – from remote Indian villages to Syrian refugee camps.

Job Description

We are looking for a Marketing Lead that will own marketing and growth efforts for Rumie. You will have the diverse ability to move between the tactical world of growth marketing and the strategic mindset of brand development.

You will increase the awareness of Rumie among potential supporters and NGO clients, and in addition, you will rapidly grow our worldwide community of LearnCloud volunteers. We are looking for a born marketing leader full of ideas who will take ownership for building and defining all the marketing activities for Rumie. You will work on strategic initiatives, but also be involved in the day to day execution of marketing and growth marketing.

This is a new role, and you will have the ability to shape the job. As a starting place, your responsibilities will include:
  • Identifying and originating new strategies and business opportunities to drive sustainable long term user growth
  • Collaborating with the CEO on brand messaging and thought leadership
  • Developing and implementing customer-centric marketing plans focused on driving awareness, acquisition, and retention
  • Oversee our communication tools including the website and digital media channels
  • Conducting analyses and using data to iterate plans


  • University degree in Business, Communications, Education, or related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience with acquisition marketing, product marketing and/or brand strategy
  • Ambitious self-starter with demonstrated ability and willingness to roll up their sleeves and execute to get the job done.
  • Ability to think creatively through trial-and-error to quickly figure out the best approach
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to write, network, and communicate in a friendly and clear manner
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, under minimal supervision
  • Skilled with Google Suite and Google Analytics
  • A passion for Rumie’s mission

  • An understanding of lean product development
  • Familiarity with the EdTech field
