Nils Engelstad is the General Counsel to Alamos Gold Inc., a NYSE and TSX listed mining company with operations and projects in Canada, the US, Mexico and Turkey. Prior to joining Alamos Gold, Nils served as the General Counsel to the McEwen Capital Group of Companies (which included serving as Vice President, General Counsel to McEwen Mining Inc.). Nils was previously in private practice with a national Canadian law firm. Prior to his career in law Nils worked for both an international NGO and a social marketing consultancy. In addition to The Rumie Initiative, he is proud to be a member of the board of directors of War Child Canada.
Drawing on experience in both the non-profit and private sector, Nils brings a pragmatic perspective to helping guide board of directors and their management through international business, risk and legal challenges.
Nils completed his undergraduate studies in international relations at the University of Toronto and completed a law degree at the University of Windsor. He also holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Toronto. Nils is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.
